What Is Global Remittance?
Global Remittance lets you send money abroad with U9. You pay in U9, and the recipient receives local currency directly in their local bank account.
Here is how it works:
- Enter the amount of local currency the recipient should receive.
- Pay with U9 from your wallet.
- The U9 is converted to local currency at the order's exchange rate.
- The money is sent by bank transfer to the recipient's local bank account.
Before you start, it helps to know:
- No identity verification needed: You just need an Abelian wallet and a registered U9 account.
- Separate from the U9 Visa Card: You do not need a U9 Visa Card.
- Paid from your wallet: The amount comes from the U9 balance in your wallet (Abelian), not your U9 Visa Card balance.
- U9 only: You cannot pay with USDT or USDC directly. If you hold USDT or USDC, swap it to U9 first (see the Swap Guide page).
- The recipient does not need U9: They do not need the app or a crypto wallet.
Does Global Remittance Need Identity Verification?
No. Global Remittance does not need the identity verification required for the U9 Visa Card. You only need to fill in your sender details.
Where Can I Send Money?
Global Remittance currently supports the 8 receiving currencies below. The recipient's bank account must be opened in the country or region of that currency.
| Currency | Country or region | Payout method |
|---|---|---|
| MYR (Malaysian ringgit) | Malaysia | Bank transfer |
| VND (Vietnamese dong) | Vietnam | Bank transfer (NAPAS) |
| PHP (Philippine peso) | Philippines | Bank transfer (InstaPay / PESONet) |
