What Do I Need Before I Verify My Identity?
Identity verification (KYC) confirms who you are, protects your account, and meets the compliance requirements for the U9 Visa Card service. You must be at least 18 years old. You only need to verify once, and it is free.
Before you start, have these ready:
- A valid original ID: a government-issued ID card, passport, or driver's license that has not expired. The ID types shown on the verification page apply.
- Your personal details: including your name, date of birth, nationality, residential address, city, postal code, and phone number.
- A selfie holding your ID: your face and the ID details must be complete and clearly visible.
- Good lighting: natural light or bright, even light works best.
How Do I Verify My Identity?
- Go to the U9 Visa Card home page and tap Identity Verification.
- Fill in your personal details accurately, following the prompts.
- Tap Front of ID and Back of ID to upload clear photos of each side.
- Tap Selfie with ID and upload a clear photo of yourself holding your ID.
- Check your details and photos carefully. When everything is correct, tap Submit for review.
- After you submit, check the result in Notifications in the app.
How Can I Improve My Chances of Passing Verification?
- Take your photos in bright, even light, and avoid glare, shadows, or blur.
- Keep the whole ID in the frame, with all four corners and all details clearly visible.
- Use a genuine, valid ID that has not expired.
- In your selfie, make sure your face and ID are complete and clear. Do not wear a hat, sunglasses, or a mask.
- Make sure the details on your ID match the details you entered.
- Your name must match the name on your ID exactly.
How Long Does Verification Take?
If you submit during service hours on a working day, the review is usually completed within 30 minutes. Applications submitted on non-working days are processed on the next working day. The actual time may vary with the number of applications and the checks needed.
You can check the result at any time in Notifications in the Abelian app.
Why Was My Verification Rejected?
First check Notifications for the exact reason, then follow the guidance below:
| Reason shown in Notifications | What to do |
|---|---|
| Paper documents are not accepted | Use your passport or another accepted original ID. |
| Black-and-white copies or scans are not accepted | Upload a color photo of your original ID. |
| The document's issuing country or region is not supported | IDs issued in restricted countries or regions cannot be verified. Please use another supported ID. |
| Facial mismatch | Retake your selfie in good light with your full face visible. |
| Wrong ID number | Re-enter the ID number exactly as shown on your ID. |
| Blurry or cropped photo | Retake a clear photo with the whole ID visible, then upload it. |
| Glare on the document | Move away from direct light, retake the photo, and upload it. |
| Expired document | Upload an ID that has not expired. |
| Duplicate identity submission | One identity can only be verified on one U9 account. Please do not submit it on more than one account. |
| Name does not match the document | Re-enter your name exactly as shown on your ID. |
How Do I Resubmit My Verification?
Go back to the verification page, update your details or upload new photos based on the reason given, then tap Submit for review again.
You can leave the verification page at any time before you submit. We recommend having everything ready before you continue.
