What Is a U9 Account?
Your U9 account is a single account for accessing the U9 Visa Card and Global Remittance. Register with just an email address, and you can use both services with the same account.
- Email code login: Each time you log in, a one-time verification code is sent to your registered email, so there is no password to set or remember.
- One identity per account: The same identity can only be used to verify one U9 account. Each account can apply for and hold up to 5 U9 Visa Cards.
- Identity verification requirements: You do not need to verify your identity to register a U9 account. To apply for a U9 Visa Card, you must complete identity verification (KYC). Identity verification requirements for Global Remittance follow the service page and local compliance rules.
How Do I Create a U9 Account?
Step 1: Enter your email
Open the Abelian app, tap the Card tab in the bottom right corner, enter your email address, and tap Send verification code.
Step 2: Enter the code
Find the code in Notifications in the app or in your inbox, enter it, and follow the on-screen steps to finish.
Step 3: Check the result
Once you have registered, you can see the result in Notifications.
- You do not need a phone number to register.
- To apply for a U9 Visa Card, your next step is identity verification. See the Identity Verification page.
- If you only plan to use Global Remittance, you can start right away.
I'm Not Receiving My Verification Code
Work through these steps:
- Check Notifications in the app: Codes are sent to Notifications in the app first, so check there before anything else.
- Check your spam: Also check your spam or promotions folder.
- Check your email address: Make sure the email address you entered is correct and has no extra spaces.
- Request a new code: Wait a few minutes, go back to the same page, and tap Resend.
- Contact official support: If the code still does not arrive after several tries, contact official support for help.
Note: Please do not tap Resend repeatedly, as this may trigger the system's security limits.
Does My U9 Account Have a Password?
No. You log in to your U9 account with a one-time code sent to your email, so there is no login password to set or reset.
For extra protection for the app and your wallet, you can turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) or a passkey. Both the iOS and Android versions of the Abelian app support this.
How to turn it on:
- On the Abelian app home page, tap the menu icon in the top right corner to open Settings.
- Under Apps, tap Security.
- Tap Two-Factor Authentication and follow the on-screen steps. Once it is on, it shows as Enabled.
Tip: If you also turn on Require 2FA for transfers, you will need to complete two-factor authentication every time you send funds, for even better protection.
Note: When you unlock your wallet or view your U9 Visa Card details, the app asks for Face ID, your fingerprint, or your wallet password. This is a wallet security check and is separate from logging in to your account.
Can I Change the Email Linked to My Account?
No. For account security and compliance reasons, your U9 account, U9 Visa Card, and identity verification are all tied to your registered email. Once you have registered, you cannot change it yourself, and the U9 Team cannot change it for you.
Please keep your registered email safe and make sure it can receive emails. If you can no longer access it, contact official support for help.
I Can't Access My Registered Email. What Can I Do?
Your registered email is linked to your U9 account and cannot be changed after registration. If you can no longer access it, contact official support through the in-app support chat in the Abelian app. Support will look into your case and guide you on what to do next.
Security tip: Official support will never ask for your email verification codes, seed phrase, or private key. Never share them with anyone.
How Do I Switch U9 Accounts?
- Open the app and tap Settings in the top right corner.
- Go to Account Management and select Switch Account.
- Enter the email of the U9 account you want to log in to and complete verification.
Note: Switching accounts does not change the email on the original account, and it does not move any U9 Visa Cards or balance.
How Do I Change the App Language?
U9 Visa Card pages use the same language as the app. To change it, go to Settings in the Abelian app.
