Recurring charges are attempted on the day a renewal is due. If your card balance is too low on that date, the card is frozen, or the merchant has restricted the card, the renewal can fail.
To avoid this, keep enough balance on your card before the renewal date, and check that the card details saved with the merchant are correct.
